We invite nursing educators to submit abstracts for poster presentations at the conference. This is a valuable opportunity to showcase your innovations, clinical practices, and educational initiatives to a diverse audience of nursing professionals.

- Notification of Acceptance: March 10, 2026

Speakers
Senior Clinician
STAT Nursing Consultants, Inc.
Dr. Melissa Mastorovich is the senior clinician at STAT Nursing Consultants, Inc. a nurse owned and operated educational consultation firm located in Pittsburgh, PA. For over 35 years, Dr. Mastorovich has worked with many students and graduates to improve test taking and NCLEX performance. She conducts research and publishes in the areas of test and performance anxiety, NCLEX preparation, helping faculty assist students who struggle academically and evaluating nursing students. Her latest research was a bibliometric study she co-authored on the state of the science of ADN education. She has provided numerous faculty workshops on test anxiety, measurement and evaluation and helping the struggling student. Her latest textbook, A good thinking approach to the NCLEX and other nursing exams is written to enhance thinking and reasoning when preparing for all types of nursing exams. She continues to maintain her clinical skills by practicing as a Senior Professional Nurse on the solid organ transplant unit of UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. Dr. Mastorovich is the Associate Editor for Teaching and Learning in Nursing, the official journal of the Organization for Associate Degree Nursing (OADN).
CEO and Founder of Dr. Sellars Educate
Dr. Bridgett Byrd Sellars serves as the CEO and Founder of Dr. Sellars Educate. She launched the company in 2021 after supporting Nurse Educators to advance their teaching skills and achieve designation as a Certified Nurse Educator over the past ten years. She is a Certified Nurse Educator by NLN, Board Certified as a Nurse Executive, and a Fellow with the American College of Healthcare Executives. Dr. Sellars has a passion for nursing education and quality patient care. Throughout her 28- years in nursing she has served in several education and leadership roles, including Director and Associate Professor of an RN-BSN Program, and Chief Nursing Officer among many other roles. She is an active member of ANCC, NLN, AACN, NCNA, and ACHE, and serves as Commissioner with the ANCC NCPD Commission on Accreditation. Dr. Sellars completed her Doctor of Philosophy in Nursing at Research at the University of San Diego in 2012, focusing on Transformational Leadership Practices. She is also a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Greensboro where she completed both her Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and her Master of Science in Nursing (Nursing Education). She is an avid sports fan having 2 sons that play basketball at the collegiate level. She is the proud spouse of a U.S. Marine Corps Veteran and enjoys serving others in her community through work with her sorority, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.

Test Construction: Improving the quality of items.
This presentation is designed to help faculty improve skills in writing test items. Principles of test construction. Guidelines for developing test items, as a means of measuring critical thinking and clinical judgment will be discussed. Emphasis will be placed on building test questions according to the NCLEX blueprint, producing defendable test items and conducting productive test reviews. -

Dr. Bridgett Sellars brings an inspiring and practical message to ADN faculty showing how student assessment data can do more than measure learning; it can transform teaching. Drawing on evidence from her Competency-Based Certification Framework, Dr. Sellars illustrates how to connect exam results, faculty reflection, and CNE® readiness to drive excellence in both educator growth and student outcomes. Participants will leave with actionable strategies to “close the loop” between evaluation and empowerment creating a culture where data fuels confidence, certification, and continuous improvement. -
